Youth Development

About Us

Who we are

Community Action for Sustainable Development Sierra Leone (CASD‑SL) is a non‑profit established in 2015 to advance equity, health and resilience in underserved communities. We place women and youth at the centre of development—because when they lead, communities flourish.

Mission

To empower vulnerable populations — especially women and youth — by tackling systemic barriers to health, education and economic opportunity, while championing sustainable practices that strengthen community resilience and well‑being.

Vision

A Sierra Leone where every person
— regardless of gender, age or income —
can lead a healthy, empowered and fulfilling life.

Where we work

We operate from Bo and Kailahun with programs across rural and peri‑urban communities, partnering closely with local leaders, health facilities, schools and youth groups.

Our Approach

We align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and follow a holistic, participatory model.

  • Community Ownership: Communities co‑design, implement and evaluate programs to ensure relevance and dignity.
  • Partnerships: We collaborate with government agencies, international organizations, NGOs and CBOs to leverage resources and expertise.
  • Innovation: From tech‑enabled health interventions to climate‑smart practices, we test and scale what works.
  • Sustainability: We build local capacity so benefits last beyond project lifecycles.

Governance & Team

How we’re governed

CASD‑SL is overseen by a Board of Directors composed of experienced development professionals, community leaders and advocates for gender equality and youth empowerment. The Board provides strategic guidance and ensures accountability to the people we serve.

Our team

Day‑to‑day operations are led by a dedicated team of program managers, field officers and community health workers, supported by volunteers and local partners.
